Bio:
I have always loved animals and was fortunate as a child to grow up with
them. My home has always been graced with a large variety of critters. I
majored in biology (with a minor in psychology) in college and
thoroughly enjoyed my education obtaining my Bachelors degree in 1978. I
entered the world of competitive dog obedience in 1987 and have put over
forty titles on my dogs in obedience, agility, herding, and conformation
competitions. When my children were in 4-H, I was the county leader for
the dog project and taught obedience to the 4-H kids. I've also taught
obedience classes to adults. As an avid fan of operant conditioning, my
training methods are reward based and positive, utilizing food, toys,
praise, and play at every opportunity. I have been breeding
Australian Shepherds
since 1996.
In the latter part of the 1990's, I began to
research feeding my dogs a raw diet and the dangers of vaccinations. In
1998, I switched my dogs and cats to a raw diet and have been a mentor to
many on this method of care. I have been naturally rearing my dogs since
then and have much practical experience on holistic animal husbandry
practices. I believe in sticking as close to nature as possible, as I
have found this is key to good health.
I have also had a menagerie of animals
including; horses, dogs, goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, peacocks, guinea hens,
quail, rabbits, guinea pigs, mice, gerbils, ring-neck doves, finches, canaries,
parakeets, cockatiels, tropical fish, hermit crabs, and cats. Other
hobbies of mine are gardening, photography, reading, weaving and mosaic
art. All the photos on this site were taken by me of my animals and
flowers.
In my quest for health for my own animals, I have found
the energy based healing modalities to be the most effective. I
have utilized classical homeopathy with excellent success for many
years. It works so well because it is based on energy.
Chiropractic, acupuncture, flower essences, TTouch, massage, herbs,
crystals/stones, and Reiki healing are all wonderful
tools to procuring good health. Animal communication can also aid understanding
and decision making regarding our pets. I feel I have a good grasp
of the big picture including the physical (diet/vaccinations), the
mental (behavior/training), and the spiritual (Reiki healing). When
working with your companion animal,
I will guide you to use whatever is best for your animal. Each
case is different, and I am flexible and use what is best for the
individual.
I am an Usui Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher. I studied under Sam
Vierck. I respect all animals as the amazing souls
they are. It is my intention to always honor the beauty and spirit of
each animal I work with. I am continually inspired by the wisdom of
the animals who have shared my life path and eternally grateful for all they
have taught me.
When I began studying Reiki, it was with the intention of working
solely with animals. As my practice has developed, I have discovered
that I enjoy working with people just as much. I decided to offer my
services to both humans and animals because of this.
Thank you very much for visiting my site. I hope to hear from you
soon.
