Reiki (pronounced ray-key) literally translated means "Universal Life Energy".  It is not based on any one particular religion and works with any belief system.  As a Reiki Master, I act as the conduit for this life energy.  I channel it via my hands to the person or animal for their highest good.  If you think of Reiki as water, I act as the irrigation pipe, funneling it to where it's needed.  Reiki heals on all levels: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.  As science is discovering, everything is made up of energy.  The field of Quantum physics is confirming what energy practitioners have known for centuries.  We are rediscovering the wisdom and knowledge of ancient cultures.  Reiki can never do any harm since it is spiritually guided.

Reiki heals by working with the life energy or "Ki" that is flowing through each of us.  This energy flows along pathways called chakras and meridians.  It also flows around us in a field of energy called our aura.  It animates our physical organs and tissues as it flows through them.  When this flow is balanced and free, we are in the state of good health.  When there are blockages, the function of various organs or tissues of the physical body is diminished.  The disruption of Ki is the main cause of illness and disease.   Negative thoughts or feelings that become lodged in the subconscious can cause blockages of Ki.  Reiki energy works to remove these energy blockages by raising the vibratory level in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached.  This breaks up the negative energy and it falls away.  Reiki clears, straightens, and heals the energy pathways, allowing the Ki to flow in a natural way.

People report feelings of peacefulness and joy after a session.  They feel less "stressed out" and more content.  Physical complaints may resolve or improve.  My services can be used in conjunction with any other healing modality.  Reiki will not interfere with conventional medical treatment, any kind of holistic regimen, or homeopathic treatment.   It shortens healing times, reduces or eliminates pain, reduces stress, and creates feelings of optimism and well-being.  Reiki is gentle and non-invasive.  An "in-person" treatment involves the person or animal laying quietly while I hold my hands above their body.  I sometimes touch the body, but not always.  If an animal is uncomfortable being touched, I can send Reiki from a distance.  Since Reiki is energy, distance is irrelevant.  In fact, the animal or person can be hundreds or thousands of miles away and I can send the Reiki to them.  All I need is a picture to connect with them on a soul level.  This is a great way to work with animals who would be stressed or even traumatized by travel.  It also is very economical with the skyrocketing gas prices!  Distant Reiki has the same power and effect as a hands-on session.  The Reiki energy does not lessen because the client and practitioner are not in the same geographic location.

During a session, I check the seven chakras: root (red), sacral (orange), solar plexus (yellow), heart (green), throat (light blue), 3rd eye (dark blue), and crown (violet) and clear them of all negativity and remove blockages.  I also bring in the energy of nature spirits to aid me in healing.  If so guided, I utilize the energy of various stones and crystals which also help clear negativity and realign the flow of energy through the body.

Each chakra is associated with various parts of the body and specific emotions.  Chakras are like spinning fans or wheels.  If they get clogged up, the air stops flowing.  These blockages then affect the corresponding organs.  For example, a blockage in the solar plexus can result in poor liver function and feelings of anger, fear and/or hate.  Sending Reiki with the intent to heal specific issues such as fear, will dissolve the energy blockage and restore health.  It can also be sent to the past to help a person or animal recover from a traumatic event.

Animal guardians notice positive changes in their pets after a Reiki session.  Dogs who were previously aloof, depressed and independent, become joyful and interactive.  Aggression issues often resolve.  Focus, drive, and attention during training sessions improve.  If you have a dog who's not really "sick" physically, but not really "well" either, Reiki may be the ticket!  Animals are very sensitive to energy and a disruption or blockage can cause them to feel "off" and just not themselves.  If you sense your pet is feeling down or "heavy", a Reiki session can bring him or her back to a state of happiness and joy.

Reiki is also an excellent means of helping an animal transition to spirit.  People often feel helpless when an animal is terminally ill.  Reiki can improve the animal's quality of life, make their passing easier, and assist the spirit in moving on after death.  Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that the highest good for an animal may be for them to pass.  While this is difficult for those of us left behind, Reiki can bring an acceptance of death for the surviving family members.  It can bring peace and help to ease the pain and grief of all involved.

The more I practice Reiki, the more in awe of its power I am.
